I’d totally forgotten about that amazing dollhouse at the museum- but then there’s so much that’s inspiring there and it truly stretches the boundaries of Science & Industry (from an intact U boat to a dolls house is pretty broad).
This was a magical ride back to childhood afternoons spent at the MSI! What a treat to read about the history of this especially amazing exhibit. (I always loved staring endlessly at the hatchling chicks, too.)
I have been obsessed with Colleen's dollhouse since I first read about it years ago -- I would love to see it in person, I bet it is just as enchanting as you describe, Jolene! When I was researching a past post on my love of miniatures, I came across some really lovely scholarly writing on Colleen's castle that I'll have to dig up and revisit. And definitely adding Rooney's book to my TBR list!
