I am SO making a relish tray for Oscar nite, like Joe Muer’s used to serve in Detroit. We just finished watching Capote v the Swans; that was one of my favorite lines 😂 Thanks for the kind mention ❤️
Aren’t they so delicious, Maddie?! I love that your sweetheart’s Mom sends Taralli ☺️ Good luck with plying your brother with the promise of snacks! 🍿🎥
I am hosting a little Oscar party. Strickly apps and cocktails. Someone else is bringing dessert. Making a cocktail in honor of poor Barbie, who got shut out.
We'll be with you "in spirit" Jolene, as we're In London this year and the hour is ungodly! Speaking of, we love a Negroni Sbagliato made with Champagne or Prosecco instead of Gin
You are such an artist, Jolene! Everything looks so elegant, especially the cake. I love the water glasses. Are they from Weck? A great post, as always! ❤️
Love this post, Jolene! And I’ll be using “snacky drinky things” for evermore.
I’m a huge fan of film (here in the Midwest we call them movies) and have hosted many an Oscar party in my time, with darn good food including snacky drinky things, printed out Oscar ballots and a prize or two for those who got the most picks right.
I plan to resurrect this tradition, I hope, by next year. Thanks for this enticing reminder!
More ways to use mortadella. Elizabeth Minchilli (Elizabeth’s Newsletter from Italy) in her book The Italian Table takes a thick slice of mortadella & a jar of pepperoncini. Cut pieces/wedges of the mortadella about the same size as the peppers. Stick the 2 together with a toothpick. Then neighbors of hers, ilghiottoneumbro on IG who run a B&B/cooking school, make mortadella butter: mortadella, butter, a bit of seasoning in the blender/food processor. Would be good on the Ritz.
Yes to relish trays! My grandma gave me one and I love it. The details of the tray are in the last photo: https://www.instagram.com/p/CwygSMAMl-E/?igsh=MmF3d2d5OHdvODc=
I love it, Elizabeth! The round shape and engravings— what a beautiful keepsake. ❤️

I just googled Joe Muer’s and I want to go! “Snacky, Drinky” is now forever in the lexicon! 😂 ❤️
Oh, this is so perfect…I’m trying to convince my brother to come over for the Oscars as we speak, so perhaps I can ply him with snacks 😅
My boyfriend is Italian, and his mom has been sending us taralli crackers recently. I’d never heard of them before but I’m a huge fan now!

So cool
Hi, George, thank you!
You’re welcome Jolene

Ooh, tell me about the cocktail, Kate!
Captain Morgan’s spiced rum, lemonade and a splash of pomegranate.
I thank you (my midriff may not) for your tip on Garrett's. 😂
They ship! 🍿😂
Go away, Jolene. 😂😂😂
😆
Snacky Drinky things are my favorite! 😍 They instantly make a gathering more fun.
Yes! I Always prefer the ‘Snacky Drinky Things’ to a sit-down dinner! Thank you, Jenovia! 🥂🍿
Delicious!

I tried one and loved it! 🥂
Yay! They’re a bit less lethal than the original so you can have more than one!
Heaven, Heaven, Heaven! All I want for dinner on Sunday now is a relish tray and a huge bowl of Ritz crackers….and caramel corn!
I’m tellin’ ya, Christene! 😆 Throw in a Negroni and a Martini 🍸 and we are set! (Love Ritz crackers so much!) xx
You are such an artist, Jolene! Everything looks so elegant, especially the cake. I love the water glasses. Are they from Weck? A great post, as always! ❤️
You are the best, Pam, thank you so much! They are actually Turkish tea glasses but you are right, they look like Weck jars 🫙 ! ❤️
This makes me want to revive my Oscar-watching parties. There’s enough here for an entire week of fun!
We’ll discuss this on the train, Amie! 🚂 😂 🎉🍿

Love a good Oscar party, and yours with the ballots is first rate! I swear, “Snacky Drinky” is now part of my forever vocabulary, too, Joan! ❤️

I love Elizabeth and this sounds so good, thank you! And thank you for your subscription, I really appreciate it! ☺️
