Yes to relish trays! My grandma gave me one and I love it. The details of the tray are in the last photo: https://www.instagram.com/p/CwygSMAMl-E/?igsh=MmF3d2d5OHdvODc=

I am SO making a relish tray for Oscar nite, like Joe Muer’s used to serve in Detroit. We just finished watching Capote v the Swans; that was one of my favorite lines 😂 Thanks for the kind mention ❤️

Oh, this is so perfect…I’m trying to convince my brother to come over for the Oscars as we speak, so perhaps I can ply him with snacks 😅

My boyfriend is Italian, and his mom has been sending us taralli crackers recently. I’d never heard of them before but I’m a huge fan now!

I am hosting a little Oscar party. Strickly apps and cocktails. Someone else is bringing dessert. Making a cocktail in honor of poor Barbie, who got shut out.

Delicious!

We'll be with you "in spirit" Jolene, as we're In London this year and the hour is ungodly! Speaking of, we love a Negroni Sbagliato made with Champagne or Prosecco instead of Gin

I tried one and loved it! 🥂

Yay! They’re a bit less lethal than the original so you can have more than one!

You are such an artist, Jolene! Everything looks so elegant, especially the cake. I love the water glasses. Are they from Weck? A great post, as always! ❤️

You are the best, Pam, thank you so much! They are actually Turkish tea glasses but you are right, they look like Weck jars 🫙 ! ❤️

Love this post, Jolene! And I’ll be using “snacky drinky things” for evermore.

I’m a huge fan of film (here in the Midwest we call them movies) and have hosted many an Oscar party in my time, with darn good food including snacky drinky things, printed out Oscar ballots and a prize or two for those who got the most picks right.

I plan to resurrect this tradition, I hope, by next year. Thanks for this enticing reminder!

Love a good Oscar party, and yours with the ballots is first rate! I swear, “Snacky Drinky” is now part of my forever vocabulary, too, Joan! ❤️

More ways to use mortadella. Elizabeth Minchilli (Elizabeth’s Newsletter from Italy) in her book The Italian Table takes a thick slice of mortadella & a jar of pepperoncini. Cut pieces/wedges of the mortadella about the same size as the peppers. Stick the 2 together with a toothpick. Then neighbors of hers, ilghiottoneumbro on IG who run a B&B/cooking school, make mortadella butter: mortadella, butter, a bit of seasoning in the blender/food processor. Would be good on the Ritz.
