Congratulations, Jolene, on the growth of your Substack! These are important moments to pause and say - WOW! - look what can be accomplished with hard work, an open mind, and a creative, interesting life. You weave intriguing things together and always bring it back to the kitchen. Bravo, my friend! And I do love the corn cob towers.
Thank you so much, Anne, I appreciate this so much (and you’ve helped me so much!) Let’s talk soon. Counting down the days till your book arrives Sept. 3rd! 📕 🍰 ❤️
Congratulations on Time Travel Kitchen’s status! So well deserved. Like all the others, “Summer in the City” is a joy. Corn holders – the best use of yellow plastic ever. How did I miss the corn cob buildings on the architectural tour?
Bravo from us both, Jolene! Have braved high summer and deep midwinter in Chicago and will take the heat every time! 'Hot town...summer in the city' could equally apply
We’re up in a family cottage in way north Michigan this week and not only did we use those corn holders tonight, we even had special little corn dishes to rest our cobs in (the better to roll in butter) 🌽 💫
That sounds so cozy, I love those special dishes, I’ve been looking on eBay for some — yes, better for the butter rolling, Gabrielle! In the UP? It really cooled off today in Chicago, only in the 70s, lovely.
Bravo, Jolene! 🎉🥳👏So happy for you! I never doubted your talent from the moment I first started reading Time Travel Kitchen—brilliant from the start and brilliant still. And always relatable—like those corncob holders, which bring back memories of lazy summer suppers and buttery cobs. I think I have two mini holders I inherited and now want some more. Congrats and hugs!🥂💕
Congrats!!! We recently bought corn cob holders for our daughter, so she could eat her corn on the cob more easily. Actually, we all use them — they're just too fun NOT to use, and they make me think of when I was a kid.

I don’t understand how anyone can eat corn on the cob WITHOUT holders???
So boujee 🤣 Love ya, Leigh! xx
Ah, that's how you spell boujee... been wondering...
Also: Bougie 😉😂
Woohoo! Congratulations!!! 🥂🥂🎉🎉
Thank you, Amelia, talk soon! xx
Love the corny S&P shakers, too!
So cute! 🧂 🌽
So 👏🏻 proud 👏🏻 of 👏🏻 you 👏🏻
Thank you, my friend! ❤️

Thank you so much, Melanie! I love “the best use of yellow plastic ever”! 😂🌽
What a great post, Jolene! Congratulations!!!!
And yes, I remember (and still have) those corn holders!!!
Love,
Jamie
Hi, Jamie! Thanks much, they are so fun, aren’t they! 🌽❤️
Ahh the little plastic corn holders of my youth. I think my Mom still has them. How nostalgic!
They are so sweet, aren’t they, Amy? ☺️🌽
And thanks for subscribing!
Looking forward to being at your virtual table, Amy! 😊
So sweet. I have to get on a schedule to post...but more is coming.
Have a great rest of your day.
You too!
Congratulations, Jolene! Great read, as usual. I have my corn holders too; that's my way to eat corn on the cob!
Thank you, Kay! So much easier with the 🌽 holders! Miss you! xx

Thank you both so much! ❤️ (I’m the opposite, I can’t wait till Fall and Winter! 😂)
So funny to see this.

Sugar Island which is tippy top of the UP between the two Sault Ste Marie’s. Blessedly cool and wild up here, a nice change from Boston.
I agree, the corn dishes work so well now I’m wondering why we don’t have them at home!
That sounds beautiful! Yes, a set for Boston! 🌽
Congrats, Jolene! I love Marina City, the icon to Midwestern Corn. I must admit that I'm anti-corn holder. I just go for it and grab the cob.
I do, too, Martin! I’ve seen pictures of some of the units that still have original pink cabinets in the kitchens, so great.
And I was eating the corn right out of the pot the other night! 😂🌽
Congrats Jolene!
Thank you so much, Liz! ❤️

Aww, Ruth, thank you! (And right back at ya!) I’ve been looking on eBay, they have a bunch! 🌽❤️xx
Fabulous milestone, Jolene and well deserved. I’m now wondering where my corn holders went - the kids probably now have them in their kitchen drawers!
Thank you, Julia! The kids took the corn holders! 😂 love it! 🌽

Thanks, Raquel! I feel the same, they are such a throwback to being a kid! 🌽
