I also adore Dali, but I wasn’t aware of a cookbook or that he illustrated Alice. How totally perfect! As usual, the art is breathtaking and often horrifying--as is so much of Dali’s work. I’d so love to see that show at the Art Institute!

Your champagne “slurpee” looks glorious--so glad there are no Dali ants swarming across it!

Hurrah!!! They are very much a "marmite" thing as we say here in the UK, you either love them or you hate them. Perfect indeed with a nice cold beverage and I do love the idea of having a little glass of them alongside a cheese plate. GENIUS!

Haha! Love your Substack Jolene and would be so happy to post you some Twiglets if you want to share your address. Not sure if there’s a way to share stuff privately on Substack but you could send a message via the contact form at silverscreensuppers.com if you want to sample the delights of the TWIGLET! Jx

I love this, Jolene. It's fascinating! I am surprised, however, that you passed on the crayfish tower. So unlike you! ❤️

I had my heart set on a first edition of “Gala” for a very long time, but it was well out of my reach on a line cook’s budget. When Taschen reissued it I jumped on it! I have it on display in my home, open to show one of the many two-page spreads.

I love this book and so glad to see you featuring it! Over the top. And the lighting and colour quality of the photos is so completely of that time, it's almost hard to see with all the details of this wild food presentation.
