Jolene, I stand in a long line of your fans. Your writing is simply magnificent. Can't wait for your book ... a great subject needs a great writer, and so glad it's you!
Still looking forward to meeting you one day. Soon, I hope. 😊
Brownies are one of my favourite desserts, so it's great to know of the history. My friend raves that Nigel Slater's brownie recipe is the ultimate, but I'm going to send him this recipe to test out ;)
I’m a fairly patient person, but here I will say: It’s about time ;) The world needs your voice Jolene. I am in however I can support you in this important endeavor! Looking forward to reading more
I’m so excited for you and your book! The Palmer House holds a special interest lace in my heart. Every year at Christmas my mother and I would travel to Chicago by train with one of my mother’s friends and her daughter. We would stay at the Palmer House, visit the art museum, go Christmas shopping, and see the Nutcracker Ballet performed. It was such a special time in my life. I remember being awed walking into the Palmer Hotel every year. It’s stunning!
What sweet memories, Amanda! Thank you so much, for this. And that’s the 3rd Palmer House, built in 1925 and that lobby and ceiling really does take your breath away! I’ve got a tour scheduled at the Palmer House on April 1 through the Chicago Architecture Society, so looking forward! Thanks again ❤️
Hi Jolene! I’m also writing a book centered in Chicago with Bertha as a big part of it (for very different reasons.) I’d love to compare notes and cheer each other on. Also, I’m a big fan of Leigh ♥️
Thanks so much, Jolene! Clearly I’m just one of your many fans! And now I’m a fan of your city as well after seeing it through the Jolene lens. Can’t wait to visit one day soon!💕
Your second city, my first city! 😊
Yes! So happy you are coaching me, Leigh! ❤️

Aww, Deborah, thank you so much for your very kind words. (I’m blushing ☺️) Yes! Coffee soon, later in April?
A BOOK! THIS IS THE BEST OF NEWS. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, Mike! Proposal first, but YES! ❤️

Also, that's a beautiful menu from 1885.
Thanks, Nathan, let me know what he thinks! It’s a fudge-like brownie and the apricot glaze on walnuts makes it very sweet.
The menu is from a book called ‘Menus in America’ (the TASCHEN link is under the photo)
Yes, absolutely!
What a marvelous project! I salute you. And happy birthday!🎉🎁🎂🎊🎈
Thank you so much, Lisa! 😊
I am enthralled for you & & this book-to-be her story!! Kudos, Jolene!!
Thank you, Jess! The nuns at St. Joseph’s would be proud 😂 (maybe not 🤔)
oh, I bet one or two would smile! : )
(have you read Lauren Groff's Matrix from a year or two ago? spell-binding, eye-opening read on the world of nuns...!)
No! I’m going to ‘Order’! (Nun-Pun intended 😂) thanks, Jess!
