So...is there a distinction between crumb cake and coffee cake? In my minds eye I can see the difference but can't necessarily verbally describe it. But right about now I'd like a piece of either and a hot cuppa coffee. Our Joannie was one of the greats!!

This is a lovely remembrance of your mother, Jolene. I always associated my mother, who died in 1999, with a pound cake with candied ginger that she often made. The crumb cake sounds perfect and simple and a great treat to drink with coffee or tea.
